The Montreal Canadiens are doing better than most people expected to start the year. One standout, has been Arber Xhekaj. The rookie defensemen has taken the league by storm and with it all who skate in his path.
Last night when the Montreal Canadiens took on the Columbus Blue Jackets Xhekaj took on Mathieu Olivier at centre ice. Take a look :
Xhekaj and Olivier had been talking and right after Montreal scores a goal they decided it was time to square off. As is customary for Xhekaj even with his short time in the league.
Both men got good shots in, Xhekaj early and Olivier later in the bout. Overall, I think this one has to go to the Montreal defender who landed the bulk of the early shots. However, Olivier did hold his own.
I'm glad fights are still around to a degree, in this case though, it looks staged and that I am not a fan of. I get needing energy, especially after your team just got scored on, but to me, staged fighting needs to go.
