We all know the Arizona Coyotes as an organization are in shambles. Between the arena fiasco and the fact that they are perennial basement dwellers in the Western Conference, there's not much hope in Arizona as a whole right now. The one thing they do seem to have an endless supply of, is cap space. Between Arizona being the land where LTIR contracts collect dust and where fringe NHLer's are first liners, they always seem to have the cap space.
Kadri would be a fantastic get for a team like Arizona, but my question is, who in their right mind would want to play for that organization willingly at the moment. Kadri did just win a Cup, so if all he cares about is chasing the money at this point and the Yotes can throw the money at him that he wants then all the power to them and him, but I just don't see a forward like him going to the dessert.
Kadri, 31, had a career year last year with 87 points in 71 games with the Colorado Avalanche last year including 28 goals and 59 assists.
This idea behind this is the Coyotes and likely the NHL trying to prove that Arizona is a viable for future free agents. With Auston Matthews a unrestricted free agent after next season, proving that they're a real contender for top tier talent.
