For awhile it appeared there was an unwritten rule in the NHL among the General Managers, that no teams would attempt to offer sheet each other's Restricted Free Agents. However, it the recent years that rule has definitely changed. We've seen multiple offer sheets over the last two years, from Sebastian Aho to Jesperi Kotkaneimi.
However, it seems that the new Canadiens' General Manager, Kent Hughes could be considering the offer sheet approach himself. According to Hockey30, the Montreal Canadiens are seriously considering offer sheeting Winnipeg Jets' star Pierre-Luc Dubois. Dubois who is a Quebec native has been rumoured to have been a Canadiens' target since his time in Columbus.
Dubois was most recently traded from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic. Dubois is in the final year of a 2-year deal that paid him a cap hit of $5,000,000 per season. Dubois has 55 points in 73 games this season for the Jets.
