Avalanche coach confirms Darcy Kuemper suffered an eye injury and provides update
Darcy Kuemper was in considerable pain after Ryan Johansen's stick made it's way through his mask and into his eye. Kuemper appeared panicked as he tried to make his way to the Avalanche bench before falling to a knee. After being tended to by medical staff, blood could be seen on the towel used to treat Kuemper.
After today's game Avalanche coach Jared Bednar provided a positive update about Kuemper.
COL coach Jared Bednar said Darcy Kuemper has "some swelling" around the eye, but it is not too serious. It is possible the goalie plays Monday in Game 4.
This is a very positive update as it appeared that things could have been much worse. Anytime a player's eye is involved in an injury it's always better to air on the side of caution. Hopefully we will see Kuemper back between the pipes Monday night for Game 4.
