Avalanche forward reveals brutal foot injury and what medical staff had to do so he could play
When a team's season ends we always hear about what kind of injuries players were playing through. But only one team gets to hoist the Stanley Cup and only one team gets to show just how much they persevered. In this year's case it was the Colorado Avalanche and stories of heart and determination have already started to creep out.
According to Peter Baugh, who covers the Avalanche, forward Val Nichushkin played Game 6, despite suffering a major foot injury. According to Baugh, the injury was so bad that Nichushkin was unable to get his skate on his foot without medical intervention.
Nichushkin shared the following photo via Instagram.
Everyone already knows hockey players are tough as nails, but Nichushkin played over 22 minutes during last night's game. The next order of business for the Avalanche will be trying to come to terms with Nichushkin before he hits free agency.
