According to reporter Anthony SanFilipinos, the Flyers had actually offered Barry Trotz a multi-year dear worth north of 7 millions dollars a season, a contract that would've made Trotz the highest paid head coach in NHL history, but the veteran bench boss turned it down.
It was only after Trotz turned down the record-breaking deal that the former broad street bullies offered Torts their head coaching job. The announcement that Torts is the new head coach of the Flyers is set to happen any day now.
The question I have is, why did Barry Trotz not want to be in Philly? Did he not want to be a part of the team? Does he want to start a new phase of his career in a different avenue? Does another team interest him more?
Usually, as the saying goes, money makes the world go round. So maybe it's Barry Trotz's world and we're just living in it
