The Chicago Blackhawks announced that they have re-signed forward Philipp Kurashev and defenseman Caleb Jones each to one-year contracts. Jones' contract is worth $1.35MM, while Kurashev's is worth $750K. Both players were RFAs. By re-signing the pair, Chicago has now re-signed all remaining RFAs on their books.
Caleb, the younger brother of fellow Chicago defenceman Seth Jones, recently completed his first year as a member of the Blackhawks, where he set several career-highs, including five goals and 10 assists for 15 points over 51 games. Caleb will probably never reach the scoring heights of older brother Seth, but he has established himself as a reliable defender for the Blackhawks who can play in all situations.
Kurashev will return to the Chicago Blackhawks for a third season. Since coming over from Switzerland, the 22-year-old has 37 points (14 goals, 23 assists) in 121 games. During the 2021-22 campaign, he notched 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 67 games.
