The Bruins need help on left-side defense according to Elliotte Friedman, as he believed they were to be in on Vladislav Gavrikov and Jakob Chychrun who are both believed to be available. However, the Bruins don't want to ruin the group chemistry as it is, given this may be their "last dance together".
The cheaper option of the two for the Bruins would be Gavrikov, as he would slot-in in as a middle-pairing option on a playoff team. At the end of his current contract, he would be nothing more than a rental, an expensive one unless the next team he moves to can manage to extend him. Also with, Jakob Chychrun the Bruins and Coyotes had talked before, but I imagine with Bill Armstrong's monumental asking price for the defenseman, the Bruins kicked tires on him.
The fear of ruining a team's chemistry is a very real possibility, combined that with the President's Trophy Curse and the Bruins have a lot to consider ahead of the Trade Deadline. If the Bruins decide to break up the group, it will be done with every bit of consideration put into place.
