Last night the Ottawa Senators faced off against the Detroit Red Wings in an Atlantic Division clash. Both teams sit just outside of the playoff picture and are hoping to finish off the season with an impressive showing. The game was a surprisingly physical contest and it was noted multiple Red Wings' players left the game with bumps and bruises.
At the end of the second period things between the teams grew heated and after being assessed a 2-minute minor for roughing against Pius Suter, Tkachuk decided the next best option was to challenge the entire Red Wings bench to a fight for the 3rd period.
None of the Red Wings would accept Tkachuk's invitation for the 3rd period and the Red Wings would end up dropping the game 6-2. The victory leaves the Senators 5 points out of the playoffs, but with 5 teams separating them from the final wild card spot, it's a large hole for them to climb out of.
