The Alex Ovechkin watch has been going on for some time now and after waiting 4 games for goal 801, it's finally happened moving Ovi into a tie with Gordie Howe for second in all time goals behind only Wayne Gretzky
The historic goal happened in the first period of tonight's game between the Washington Capitals and the Winnipeg Jets, take a look:
Here's Ovechkin mic'd up for the historic moment. It. Is. Chilling.
This comes a day after Ovechkin took over 1st place in total shots over an NHL career passing Ray Bourque.
As Ovechkin continues to etch his name in the NHL record book, it seems like it's only a matter of time before he passes Wayne Gretzky for 1st on the all times goals list. He's been a first ballot hall of famer for some time now, but Ovi might just be the greatest pure goal scorer the NHL has ever seen.
I can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of his great career, at this point, it's just captivating to watch
Update: Ovechkin has officially passed Howe for second all-time.
