The San Jose Sharks have been in the basement all season long. Heading into the deadline they were going to be sellers and after months of speculation surround forward Timo Meier, the wait is finally over.
The San Jose Sharks have traded Meier and Scott Harrington to the New Jersey Devils according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
Meier, 26, has played in 57 games for the Sharks this season, scoring 31 goals and adding 21 assists for 52 total points.
The Sharks will retain 50% of Meier's salary in the deal.
In return, the Devils are trading Fabian Zetterlund and a 2023 1st round pick
The Devils are sitting 2nd in the metropolitan division, with the addition of Meier, they have officially put the rest of the eastern conference on notice.
