Breaking News - Insider reveals a Jakob Chychrun trade 'has never been closer'
The NHL pre-season started this afternoon with a game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators. The Leafs went onto win the game convincingly 4-1, but it was a comment mentioned during intermission that is drawing most of the attention post game.
During intermission the conversation shifted to Arizona Coyotes defender Jakob Chychrun. That's when Elliotte Friedman revealed that a trade for the defender has never been closer.
It's never been closer, the Sens are the closest to acquiring him. I believe a prospect Arizona has wanted is Shane Pinto.
Pierre Dorion has reportedly been desperately searching for a defenseman all summer and his apparently narrowed his sights to focus on Chychrun. While the cost of a player like Pinto would be high, that's the cost attached to acquiring talented top pairing defenders in the NHL.
