After a couple of weeks of speculation, forward Jake Virtanen has finally found a place to play next season. Well, hopefully that is. He's been brought to an NHL camp on a professional Tryout.
According to the Edmonton Oilers Twitter, they have signed Virtanen to a PTO. Training camp begins in Edmonton later this week.
First, it was reported a couple of weeks ago that the Oilers were close to bringing Virtanen to camp. Then his tie to the city of Calgary made sense for the Flames to give him a shot to crack their roster, but nothing had been signed. Finally, Edmonton and Virtanen put pen to paper.
Virtanen, 26, spent last season in the KHL with Spartak Moscow. In 36 contests he scored 9 goals and added 7 assists for 16 points.
