In a shocking turn of events, Don Sweeney and Cam Neely did something, no one thought would happen.

They fired Bruce Cassidy at 7:09 pm, Cassidy's been a winning coach in his time with the Bruins, in spite of the 1st round exit this year.

In his six seasons as head coach, Cassidy led the Bruins to a 399-245-108 record with six playoff appearances. Boston went 36-37 in the postseason under Cassidy's regime and appeared in the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals, where the team lost to the St. Louis Blues in seven games.

In light of Patrice Bergeron's 5th Selke Trophy win, it seems highly suspect that Cassidy's exit would be like this.

This may hasten Bergeron's exit from the Bruins organization as well, as he goes into surgery for an injury he's been weathering the past two seasons. The expected recovery time is estimated to be 10 to 12 weeks, for the Bruins Captain.

The coaching market is currently saturated with many coming back into the market after recent firings. The Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, and Philadelphia Flyers haven't decided on a coach yet either. It isn't speculation to say Cassidy won't be out of a job for long.
