The 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship is set to get underway on Tuesday in Gothenburg, Sweden and on Sunday, Canada named their leadership group for the tournament.
Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten has been named captain for Canada. The 19-year-old plays for the Kamloops Blazers in the Western Hockey League, but appeared in four games for the Maple Leafs at the start of the 2023-24 season.
Hockey Canada named four alternate captains for the tournament including Montreal Canadiens prospect Owen Beck, who is the only returning player on their roster from 2023. Boston Bruins forward Matthew Poitras, Arizona Coyotes prospect Maveric Lamoureux and Buffalo Sabres prospect Matthew Savoie will also wear the 'A'.

Canada will open their quest for a third consecutive gold medal on Boxing Day at 9 a.m. ET against Finland and can be viewed across the country on TSN.
