The Carolina Hurricanes and Sebastian Aho are closing in on a long term deal that would keep him in Carolina for 8 years. For the Hurricanes, locking down a franchise cornerstone would be a good move for the club.
Aho, 25, appeared in 75 games for the Hurricanes last season collecting 36 goals to go along with 31 assists for a total of 67 points.
If Friedman is right and the Canes and Aho are close, this could be the final nail on the coffin for the Leafs and Nylander, who is a better player than Aho by far.
The only thing that could save Nylander and the Leafs is if they can agree to a lesser contract because Nylander plays wing and Aho is a centreman, but if Aho signs for 9.5, it wouldn't be unreasonable for Nylander to ask for North of 10 million at the very least.
