Carolina Hurricanes mount a historic comeback against the Winnipeg Jets only to lose in overtime
The Carolina Hurricanes had quite the comeback last night versus the Winnipeg Jets. The Hurricanes were down in the game 3-0 with five minutes to go. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour pulled goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov for an extra attacker. Jacob Slavin scored from a shot from the point to make it 3-1. With just over three minutes to play Andrei Svechnikov tipped in Brent Burns shot to make it 3-2. Finally, at 19:21 of the third period, Martin Necas tied the game. Necas' long shot from the blueline got past Winnipeg goalie David Rittich.
The Hurricanes were ecstatic to tie the game. The players on the ice and on the bench were thrilled to make such a comeback. Three late third period goals all with their goalie pulled. That's impressive. Carolina eventually lost the game in overtime but their comeback to tie it late in the third period shows that this team has some real talent, and they never give up. I
t's not a surprise that the Hurricanes are thought as one of the leagues better teams and they look to compete for the Stanley Cup this year. The Jets on the other hand, might want to address maintaining large leads in the third period. Lucky for them they still won the game and saved themselves further embarrassment.
