The Chicago Blackhawks are and have been in tank mode, after a start to the season that gave some fans a little bit of hope, they've certainly taken a nose dive and are looking to offload as many assets as possible, including a moving a veteran defender.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman on the 32 thoughts podcast, the Hawks are trying to find the right fit for Jake McCabe. Take a look:
Friedman on 32TP says Blackhawks are in no rush to trade D-Jake McCabe cause they really like him, but they understand at this point of his career he probably wants to win and teams will call about him, expects Edmonton to potentially be one of those teams
McCabe, 29, has skated in 33 games for the Blackhawks this season registering 9 points. Including one goal and eight assists while being a stabilizing presence on the back end for this bottom of the barrel Chicago team.
I love the idea of Chicago wanting to do right by their veteran players and the odds of general managers calling about a guy like McCabe are high. Edmonton being in the mix makes sense, and knowing the history of Ken Holland, you could probably bank on him over paying for a guy like McCabe. I just wonder if he really wants to win sooner than later if Edmonton would be his ideal situation.
