Chicago Blackhawks refuse to let Connor Bedard and rest of team speak to Toronto media ahead of tonight's game
Whether fans want to admit it or not, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto market is the most important market to the NHL. So when the Chicago Blackhawks and Connor Bedard come to town you'd expect the league's first overall pick to be made available to media. However, for the second time this season a team has opted to not make their players available ahead of the game.
On Saturday the Montreal Canadiens made the decision to not take part in gameday media as well. This decision, has left people stunned and confused.
First Habs, now Blackhawks make no one available the morning of the game in Toronto Don't know why the NHL allows it It's like the league doesn't want to be covered
The Leafs were available again today Forgive me for thinking the league would want players telling their stories to the people interested in them But two outta three Leaf opponents skipping media the day of the game is a bad look/bad trend
While the Blackhawks were in Toronto for practice yesterday and did have some media availability it is strange the league wouldn't want to use Bedard's star power on the league's biggest stage. This is just another reason the league hasn't grown at the pace it could have, due to their inability to market their stars.
