Chicago Blackhawks trade former Stanley Cup Champion to the Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche announced that they have acquired depth defenceman Jack Johnson from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenceman Andreas Englund.
This trade is completely unlikely to move the needle in any capacity for either team, except maybe the Avalanche's locker room. The team has taken a step back this year, and bringing back a veteran leader and fan favourite in Johnson could boost their morale.
Johnson shouldn't be expected to contribute much, if anything, on the ice. In 58 games this season, he's only recorded 4 assists and has an abysmal rating of -25.
Englund is a 27 year old defenceman with only 69 games played in the NHL, despite being a second round selection by the Ottawa Senators in the 2014 draft. In 36 games, England has three assists.
