Colorado Avalanche finally sort out contract situation with top player
Earlier this summer reports the surfaced that the Colorado Avalanche and top pairing defender Devon Toews were far apart on a new contract. The initial reports suggested that Colorado didn't feel comfortable issuing a long-term contract to Toews. Apparently the Avalanche felt committing long-term to a player over the age of 30 didn't make sense.
Toews however made it clear he had every intention on remaining in Denver. Today the two sides were finally able to work at a deal and it appears the Avalanche have finally caved to his demands.
Devon Toews signs a seven-year extension with the #avs carrying a $7.25M AAV.
Toews was expected to be one of the top free agents on the market next season. After being acquired from the New York Islanders, he has become a stable on the Colorado blue line.
Congrats Devon Toews
