Colorado Avalanche to make a push for this Montreal Canadiens forward
It looks like the Montreal Canadiens centre Sean Monahan will make his return to the lineup shortly after the all-star break next weekend. He currently has been practicing with a non-contact jersey on. This is good news for Montreal because there is a real possibility that Monahan is dealt at the trade deadline for a future asset.
One team who might express interest in Monahan is the Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche. Colorado would like to have some depth up front and Monahan could fill that need. Colorado has struggled with injuries throughout their lineup all season. Monahan probably won't cost a fortune to acquire either something that will be attractive to Colorado. Monahan isn't a major commitment either, he is in the last year of his contract that pays him just over six million dollars per season.
Monahan has proved he can still be a serviceable centre in today's NHL. In twenty five games this year Monahan has six goals and eleven assists in twenty five games this season.
If Colorado can get Montreal to retain some salary, there could be a fit for Monahan in an Avs jersey.
