Connor Bedard gets his first two NHL points and then gives a stone cold quote, showing he's not like other players
For most players in the NHL having a two assist night, including setting up the game winner, would be enough. However, Connor Bedard isn't just another NHL player and despite only being 18-years-old Bedard has already shown wisdom and poise beyond his years. Last night Bedard took part in his first NHL action that wasn't enough.
In overtime Bedard saucered a perfect pass to Andreas Athanasiou who was able to bury his shot to send Hawks fans home happy.
Bedard finished the night with a very impressive stat line for his NHL debut.
21:20 ice time
9 shot attempts
5 shots on goal
2 assists
70.3% xG ratio
63% on faceoffs
Despite this very impressive performance though, after the game Bedard wasn't all that happy with his own performance. When speaking to reporters Bedard shared that he believes he can be better, and not just 'a bit better' but 'a lot better'.
«I think I could be a lot better. I don't think I personally played great.»
These comments alone just show how much differently Bedard views the game. The young up and coming star doesn't just want to be better, he expects it of himself and that's the sort of attitude that is going to make him a superstar in this league for many years to come.
