The Boston Bruins came into Toronto last night leading the NHL with a 10-1-0 record. The Bruins sat atop the Atlantic Division with an 8 point gap between themselves and the struggling Maple Leafs. With the Maple Leafs looking to turn their season around, last night was the perfect opportunity.

Unfortunately for the Bruins the Maple Leafs put up their best effort of the season and walked away with a 2-1 victory. The Bruins may also be without Connor Clifton after a cross check late in the 2nd period. With the Maple Leafs leading 2-1 late in the 2nd period and the team pressing, Connor Clifton delivered a cross check to the face of Michael Bunting.

Bunting dropped to the ice and missed the remaining 30 seconds, while Clifton was assessed a 2 minute minor for cross checking. This intentional cross check to the face aligns to many other cross checks which have resulted in suspension over the last year.

Expect an announcement today on whether Clifton will have a hearing.
