Connor McDavid wants the NHL to change this rule
Connor McDavid helped the Edmonton Oilers defeat the San Jose Sharks last night with a great two-goal game. McDavid is the player the Oilers built the team identity around, a quick skating center, with a lethal shot.
McDavid has made it known what he thinks of the shoot-out in the NHL and it probably isn't to Gary Bettman's liking.
McDavid went on to explain how "No one loves the shootouts" which is an unpopular way to end games.
McDavid wants to keep 3 v 3 in overtime until someone wins, which makes sense as he is a team-first player. While I get he doesn't feel like it's a great way to end the game, it really displays players' individual skills, and would McDavid really want a game to end in a tie? We saw how Columbus and Tampa Bay went for 5 OTs in the bubble. Endless 3 v 3 is a solution, but I'm not sure 5 overtime periods are sustainable.
