Last night the Edmonton Oilers were In New York to take on the Rangers at Madison Square Garden and the game wasn't without its fair share of controversy.Especially after a goal was reviewed and then subsequently dis-allowed under rather strange circumstances.

This review happed after Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner had his mask knocked off during play, the Rangers still had possession and Artemi Panarin scored a goal on a wide open net. The goal was then disallowed, but according to the rules, it appears to have been a good goal; Take a look.

According to the rule, play shall only be stopped if a goaltenders helmet is knocked off and there's no imminent of impending scoring chance from the opposing team. Meaning even though the play was «blown dead», it really shouldn't have been.

The Rangers would go on to lose the game by a score of 4-3 and that disallowed goal could be seen as the turning point. Once again, the NHL doesn't know its own set of rules. This is long past embarrassing.
