Sidney Crosby says he doesn't want to speculate on what's going to happen with the future of the Big 3 but "you just try to enjoy it as much as you can because you know it's not something going to last forever."
Pittsburgh's Crosby, Malkin, and Letang have accomplished a lot in sharing multiple Stanley Cup wins in 2008-2009, 2015-2016, and 2016-2017.
Crosby's Hockey Hall of Fame status is secured, as Pittsburgh's number one center, in spite of a Covid-19 infection, Crosby has turned 2021-2022 into a success story, with 31 goals and 53 assists.
Letang's two-way defense has helped the Penguins, on the rush, and has been a defensive success with a +19. Letang is also no offensive slouch with 9 goals and 58 assists on the year, with 67 points.
Malkin's offensive output this year hasn't been as impressive as his last 72 point season in, 2019-2020, but 40 is a massive contribution in a season that has been suffered massive complications for multiple teams.
Despite fans having a love-hate relationship with Malkin and Letang, the «Big Three» aren't going anywhere. Letang mentioned in a statement in the recent weeks stating that he, Malkin and Crosby do not intend to go anywhere. They wish to remain Penguins and end their careers where they began. General Manager Ron Hextall seems to agree.
This was reported by the Game Hau on June 3, 2021, so the question is what has changed? With David Morehouse moving on as Fenway Sports Group takes the reins, it's easy to speculate that one of these loved veterans may be moved and I'm going to say, it won't be Crosby.
