Czechia player ejected for very dangerous retaliatory hit during game versus Canada
The World Junior Championships are well underway. Teens vying for a spot on top of the hockey world representing their countries and as such, sometimes emotions get the better of players.
This was the case in the middle of the first period of the Canada-Czechia game when Jaroslav Chmelar boards Canada's Brennan Othmann.
Chmelar received a 5-minute-major and a game misconduct for the hit. Earlier in his shift, Othmann had been throwing his weight around, this was deemed a retaliatory penalty, thus, reason for the game misconduct.
These kind of hits need to be taken out of the game completely, not only was this uncalled for, Chmelar, followed through on a defenceless Canadian player. It could've been a lot worse than a broken nose for Othmann
