A few days ago, the Ottawa Senators and head coach DJ Smith weren't happy with how the Montreal Canadiens dealt with their stars, going so far as to issue a challenge the next time the two teams face one another. Well, now it appears he's following through on that.
According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports and The NHL Network, Smith is ready for retaliation.
When asked about the physical aspect of tonight's rematch, here's what the Sens bench boss had to say:
We have a group that is going to be able to take care of that aspect
Ottawa will dress a line of Kastelic-Watson-Sabourin, who seem to know what they have to do ahead of tonight's game.
I think this a really cool aspect of the Senators this season, they don't seem to be afraid to send a message and collect names. I know not everyone will agree, but this makes for an intriguing matchup.
It's all about the game within the game. That, or Smith is a throwback coach of old. Either way, the suspense it builds and the excitement around the game is something the NHL has been missing in recent years. I'm glad it's back.
Let's get ready for some old time hockey.
