Last night a very peculiar and scary injury happened when the Florida Panthers took on the Dallas Stars. Goaltender Scott Wedgewood went down in the second period with a non-contact injury. After remaining on the ice for several minutes, he was stretchered off.
However, there appears to be some good news. According to Matthew DeFranks of Dallas Morning News. Wedgewood was walking around in the dressing room post game
Stars head coach Pete DeBoer has labelled it an upper body injury but did say the following
We're going to go home and get him checked out, but obviously, you never like to see that. ... He's not in any danger, he's coherent, all of that stuff
After an incident like that it's a relief Wedgewood was able to walk around post game. It seems to be a freak accident, let's just hope for his sake he can heal and come back. Obviously in a situation like this though, health after hockey also comes into play.
