Detroit Red Wings forward receives misconduct for odd reason
The Detroit Red Wings are visiting the Chicago Blackhawks this evening in what has been a rather heated game. We're seen some rather odd calls this year from National Hockey League officials, but I don't think anything like this has ever been called.
Red Wings forward Klim Kostin was given a 10-minute misconduct for 'continuing an altercation' which is a strange call to say the least; take a look.
Kostin cross-checks Connor Murphy, then drops his gloves to fight him before quickly taking him down.
Kostin was given a 2 minute minor for cross-checking, 2 minute minor for roughing and a 10 minute misconduct for continuing the altercation, while Murphy was only given 2 minutes for roughing.
It did appear that Kostin wanted to stay on top of Murphy while the refs were trying to separate them, but I don't think this deserves a misconduct. NHL officials always have to be the star of the show.
