Very few details were made available earlier today when the arrest of Milan Lucic became public. However, a new report out of Boston has now shed more light on the situation, and if the allegations are true, there's a good chance Lucic's NHL career is over.
Lucic, who hasn't been playing for the Bruins since late October because of an ankle injury, was arrested very early in the morning after his wife called 9-1-1. She told officers he was intoxicated and had been violent with her.
"Sources told the I-Team that his wife made the 911 call and told police that her husband attacked, and choked her. I-Team sources also said that he appeared to be drunk when police found him."
Again, Lucic gets his day in court, but there's nothing good about any of this. Lucic, who is 35, had been basically playing out the last of his career. A conviction on these allegations will almost certainly mean he's already played his last game.
The Boston Bruins, through head coach Jim Montgomery, have said they are offering help and support to Lucic's family. As is to be expected, no further comment at this time.
