Sometimes, it's hard not to be romantic about the game of hockey. Hockey is a game where dreams are made whether you're playing at the NHL level, or not.
Last night, when the Edmonton Oilers played the Chicago Blackhawks leading 7-3 with 2:26 left in the game, they called on emergency goaltender Matt Berlin of the Alberta Golden Bears, take a look:
Berlin, 25, made one save with 46 seconds left in the game and surely got to live out his dream as an Alberta kid.
Sometimes it's hard not to be romantic about the game of hockey because of things like this. What a gesture by the Edmonton Oilers organization, the players and the coaching staff.
For everything that hockey is today, these are the things that keep the game fun. The standing ovation from the crowd was amazing.
I bet if Berlin were to quit hockey today, he would have accomplished everything he dreamed of.
