Lafferty stepped right into Kulak with a clean legal body check. Play continued for a moment while the Kulak had some choice words for Lafferty and seemed bothered by the hit. The two decided to settle their differences with a fight.
It was a spirited fight with both players landing punches. Kulak appeared to land several right hands and even threw in an upper-cut at the beginning of the fight.
Eventually the players tired themselves out and the linesman stepped in. both players were given the typical five minute majors. Watch the replay below.
Kulak was clearly upset with Lafferty's hit but he did nothing wrong. The hit might have seemed late but Kulak did have the puck. As a defender you have to expect that. Kulak didn't so he decided to fight.
All in all, both players got some shots in and the fans benefited from seeing a decent fight.
