The Florida Panthers finished 1st overall and were the Presidents Trophy winners this season having the best season in franchise history. Last night they hosted Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Quarter Finals matchup with the Washington Capitals. The Panthers are very excited about this potential run to the Cup, but apparently some of their fans might not be.
Naturally you'd assume their opening night of the playoffs would be sold out right? Well it was and it wasn't. As the puck dropped tonight the FLA Arena isn`t sold out not even close to it and with tickets on the secondary market for as low as $33. This graphic from Hockey Feed shows just how many seats remain available.
While the paid attendance was 100%, watching the game on television you could feel the lack of energy, involvement, passion and even see the empty seats. I'm already looking forward to Game 3 when the series moves to Washington so we can see a truly passionate group of fans watch their team play.
The Capitals went on to win Game 1 by a score of 4-2, Game 2 goes Thursday from Florida.
