Recently, Anthony Di Marco of the Fourth Period revealed the package the Flyers would have to give up to acquire Alex DeBrincat, reportedly on the trade block in Chicago.
Coming off a brutally disappointing season, the Flyers have made clear that they will do everything they can to be a competitor this year. From GM Chuck Fletcher announcing the team will pay UFAs to join them, to the hiring of John Tortorella, their actions recently have matched that mandate.
Now, the Flyers are reported to be in on the star forward out of a rebuilding Chicago team, Alex DeBrincat. The trade package that's believed to be needed for the Flyers to acquire DeBrincat includes their 5th overall pick this year, one of Joel Farabee or Cam York, and a prospect like Tyson Foerster.
It's a steep price to pay, but acquiring a 40+ goal scorer at the age of 24, who is still a restricted free agent, could make any team immediately competitive.
