Former 1st round pick signs two way deal to keep his NHL dream alive

Every off-season we see NHL teams invite a certain number of players to camps on professional tryouts, sometimes they turn them into contracts with their new teams and sometimes they don't.

In the case of this former first overall pick, he impressed enough at camp to earn a spot contract with his new team. According to the Pittsburgh Penguins, they have signed Colin White to a 1-year, 2-way deal; take a look.


The Penguins have signed forward Colin White to a one-year contract.


The two-way contract will run through the 2023.24 campaign and carry an average annual value of $775,000 at the NHL level.

White, 26, was drafted 21st overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2015 NHL entry draft and simply has not lived up to expectations at the NHL level. Last season with the Florida Panthers he called just 15 points in 68 games including 8 goals and 7 assists.

White's new contract is a 2-way deal that Carrie's a cap hit of $775,000 at the NHL level and $500,000 in the minors.
