When Shane Wright fell to 4th overall in the 2022 National Hockey League Entry Draft, many were concerned about his attitude and development. Last season, Wright was moved around between the NHL, AHL and OHL. With so much movement, his development took a step back.

Now with Gary Bettman granting Wright an exemption from the NHL/CHL agreement that opened the door for him to be sent down to the Kraken's affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, which they've done; take a look.

#SEAKraken have sent down F Shane Wright to Coachella Valley (AHL).

Wright, 19, seemed to struggle in the preseason with the Kraken recording just 1 assist in 3 preseason games.

Sending him down to the AHL is probably the best thing for his development. Getting consistent playing time with one team for part or all of this season is key. Let him play important minutes with the Firebirds and get his confidence back and who knows what'll happen in the future.

It was obvious Wright was too good to go back to the OHL even though he's still eligible. Hopefully this is the beginning of the Seattle Kraken trying to right the ship with Wright.
