Former Seattle Kraken player admits he found out he was released in the most disrespectful way possible
Part of the game and business of hockey is making difficult decision. Every decision that a coach or General Manager makes has far reaching impacts. Unfortunately sometimes doing the right thing for your team, isn't an easy choice.
Along the way most General Managers try to do the right thing or at the very least the professional thing. Unfortunately for Morgan Geekie of the Seattle Kraken, he wasn't afforded that sort of treatment.
The Kraken and General Manager, Ron Francis made the decision to leave Geekie unqualified. This decision left Geekie as an unrestricted free agent, free to sign wherever he wants. Throughout that process though, Francis didn't feel it was important to inform Geekie of the decision.
Instead Geekie shared that he found out in one of the worst ways possible.
Morgan Geekie says that he found out on Twitter that the Kraken had let him walk. Sheeeeeesh.
Letting a player find out via Twitter that they've been unqualified isn't exactly a ringing endorsement to the franchise. However, Geekie was able to secure a 2 year deal worth $4,000,000 with the Boston Bruins, which will give him a fresh start.
Last season out up 9 goals and 19 assists in 69 games.
