With the National Hockey League season just over a month and a half old, the waiver wire is quiet with just one name going on waivers this afternoon.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the New York Islanders have placed forward Nikita Soshnikov on the wire.
Soshnikov, 29, has not panned out since coming over from Russia. This season he's appeared in 3 games for the Islanders registering 0 points and having a plus/minus rating of -2
In his 5 year NHL career Soshnikov has played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, St. Louis Blues and New York islanders. In 90 career games Soshnikov has jus 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 total points.
A far cry from what was expected when the Leafs brought him over from the KHL to start the 2015-16 NHL regular season.
