Gabriel Landeskog busts open Mattias Ekholm after he rips off Rantanen's helmet
The Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators are scheduled to start their 1st round playoff matchup Tuesday night in Denver. The Colorado Avalanche are currently heavy favourites (-620) to beat the Predators and (+390) to win in a sweep. While there isn't much bad blood between the teams, earlier this year things got heated.
During a November game, Mattias Ekholm decided it would be a good idea to tear the helmet off of Mikko Rantanen. Unfortunately for Ekholm, Gabriel Landeskog was on the ice. After Ekholm pulled off Rantanen's helmet, he was met with multiple left hands that left him bloodied.
On the play Ekholm received 2-minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct, while Landeskog was given 2-minutes for roughing, 5-minutes for fighting and a 10-minute misconduct. With Landeskog set to return from injury the Avalanche will look to make short work of the Juuse Saros-less Preds.
