Gary Bettman provides major update on possible NHL expansion
Gary Bettman has drawn the ire of NHL fans over his NHL tenure. From his history of lockouts to his refusal to move the Arizona Coyotes. But there is good news for Canadian fans.
Gary Bettman held a special press conference at the Bell Centre before the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens game.
Bettman explained that Geoff Molson, owner of the Montreal Canadiens would be in favor of an expansion to Québec City, this was always viewed as a potential major hurdle for any team entering the league.
This is exciting news, as Canadian fans may have some hope that an 8th NHL team in the future. After the devastating loss of the Quebec Nordiques and Winnipeg Jets in the 90s, the Canadiens could have another franchise that gives them another shot at the Stanley Cup, should an expansion take place.
With Bettman and the Board of Governors looking to continue to add revenue, given how successful the Vegas and Seattle expansions were at driving profitability, unlike a certain team in the Desert, this is promising.
