The National Hockey League has said it's trying to get reckless and dangerous actions out of their game for years, the problem is, when it comes down to it, they don't do enough to deter players from dangerous plays.
Last night, the New York rangers took on the Anaheim Ducks at home and Ducks defender Radko Gudas was up to his old tricks. This time slewfooting Rangers forward Barclay Goodrow; take a look.
I don't think you're allowed to do that, right ? Anyway no call on the play. #NYR
This is a reckless play that Gudas cannot make, the trip combined with using his free arm to take down Goodrow is a bad look all together, but hey if the referees don't call it, it's fair game.
Later in the game, Gudas and Goodrow would come together again with just over 5 minutes left in the 3rd period. This time, Goodrow would be the first to initiate, cross-checking Gudas in the back. Gudas would then turn around and give Goodrow a rather hefty 2-handed whack, which he would get a misconduct for.
Radko Gudas gets sent home early after whacking Barclay Goodrow in the back of the legs and the #NYR fans let him hear it.
This is a classic example of things boiling over well after a blatant non-call. Thankfully Goodrow was never hurt kn the dangerous slewfoot.
