Incredible preview released for upcoming hockey documentary (Video)
For many the 1972 Summit Series was one of the biggest moments in hockey history. An entire generation grew up watching and waiting for that very moment. The series was considered a defining moment for Canadian hockey and it's history.
The Soviet Union has must one their 4th consecutive Olympic Gold Medal. Unfortunately for Canada the country was never able to send their best players because of the clause banning professional players from the games. But the Summit Series marked the first opportunity for a best on best tournament.
We knew we had the best players, and yet the Russians were called the World Champions. They were the world champions. We were the best! - Ken Dryden
On September 28, 1972, 90% of Canadians tuned in to watch that eighth game between Canada and the Soviet Union.
Now for the first time the footage has been converted to 4K and will be presented in full HD for everyone to enjoy in this 4 part series presented by CBC
