Is Juraj Slafkovsky's time in Montreal running out?
It appears that some roster moves will be happening with the Montreal Canadiens soon. Most notably, TSN insider Darren Dreger reports that it is likely that Juraj Slafkovsky will be sent to Laval in the American Hockey League. Slafkovsky has no point and is minus one in four games with Montreal. This potential move could benefit the Canadiens in a few ways. For example, Slafkovsky will have more time to adjust to the speed and skill of the North American game in the minors and be given plenty of ice time in Laval.
Plenty of young players begin their development in the American League and it should benefit both the organization and player in the long run. Lots of NHL clubs have the dilemma of what to do with young players before they have skated in ten regular season NHL games. Franchises will send a player back to juniors or the minors before ten games, so they don't burn the first year of their entry level contract. Slafkovsky has only played four games and it does seem likely he will be sent down if there are no other injuries for the Canadiens up front.
