Jacob Trouba claims another victim with another huge body check
Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba continues to remind players to be aware when he is on his ice. Trouba continues to make his physical presence known by hitting players in open ice. Last night versus the Florida Panthers, Trouba had a solid hit on Carter Verhaeghe. Verhaeghe had the puck and was driving hard to the net. Verhaeghe was able to get a shot on goal off but he paid the price by running into Jacob Trouba. Verhaeghe fell to the ice and ended up in the back of the New York Rangers net. It was a clean hit and no penalty was called on the play. Watch the replay below.
It's rare to see a defender like Trouba play this style of hockey anymore. Most defending is all about skating, skill, and positioning. However Trouba has made himself a force to be reckoned with.
His huge open ice hits will make any opposing player think twice about cutting through the middle of the ice. Trouba's no small player either. He is six foot three and weighs two hundred pounds. Imagine that coming at you full speed. Look for Trouba to continue this style of play and to try and help the Rangers get into the playoffs this season.
