John Gibson has been openly frustrated with the lack of success he experienced over the summer. The former All-Star goalie has seen his stats dip dramatically and the team falter. Today though Gibson allowed those frustrations to boil over.

In a game against the Detroit Red Wings Gibson got tangled up with Red Wing's forward Adam Erne. As the two engaged Gibson hit him with an elbow before Erne retaliated with a slash. Gibson returned a slash of his own before the referee finally blows the whistle.

After the whistle Gibson gave Erne another shot for good measure. The cross check to the back of the head sent Erne to the ground and the Ducks to the penalty kill.

On the play Gibson received 2 minutes for elbowing and 2 for roughing while Erne received 2 minutes for his slash. David Perron would go onto score immediately on the powerplay giving the Red Wings a 2-1 lead.
