John Tortorella admits this is the end of his career
John Tortorella has made a stunning announcement about his coaching career, after being hired by the Philadelphia Flyers. He told Philadelphia media that this 4 year run with the Flyers will be his last, to much delight of his haters.
Tortorella made infamous, with the Calgary Flames locker-room incident, sweeping Tampa Bay in the 1st round in 2019 and notoriously demoting young players.
It took the Philadelphia Flyers officially 44 days to interview and hire a new coach, after Barry Trotz passed, Tortorella was next in line for the no longer-Broad Street Bullies.
During his press conference with his new team, he sounded ecstatic and humbled to be in the historical organization, right now in tank mode, as Claude Giroux moved on to Florida, Courtier was out on the injured reserve, and many draft pieces were traded such as Nolan Patrick.
In his 20 years of NHL head coaching experience, Tortorella has a Stanley Cup ring and two Jack Adams Award honors (Coach of the Year). He won the Cup in 2004 with the Lightning, has put up three seasons of 100 or more points and owns 12 playoff berths and 10 series victories.
The ex-Columbus Blue Jackets coach, who has the winningest record will have a task to turn around the Flyers and instill two-way discipline and institute a course correction.
