Jordan Staal forced to leave the game after taking a skate to the face
Safety in around the game of hockey has been a hot topic since Adam Johnson lost his life after being struck in the throat with a skate earlier this year. Now it appears there is a heightened focus on these incidents. Unfortunately that focus has brought forward examples of just how dangerous hockey can be.
During a game tonight between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes, Jordan Staal was the latest victim of a skate riding up high. Unfortunately tonight it appears Staal was cut as the skate of Martin Fehervary came up and hit him in the face/head area.
Staal immediately left the ice and went directly to the Hurricane's locker room, where he has remained for a large portion of the second period.
