Kris Letang leaves the Pittsburgh Penguins for personal reasons
Kris Letang's year has been rough. He recently was sidelined with a stroke for the 2nd time in his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He returned to practice on the 8th of December after being out for two.
The tough times seem to have continued for the Montreal-born defenseman.
As the team was in Boston readying themselves for the Winter Classic in Fenway Park, Letang received news that his father had died. He wasn't able to play due to the fact he was sidelined "day to day" on an undisclosed injury recently.
At this time the team has released no information on the defenseman's timetable to return after this news. This will be his 2nd game missed due to unfortunate circumstances, as he was out during the Penguins 4-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils.
